Fab, not flab!

{March 25, 2009}   Hello, yes, I suck

Soooo….

I went to visit my parents in Seattle a couple of weeks ago and sort of fell off the wagon. And I’m such a weenie that I haven’t stepped on the scale since before I left.

Quick, someone kick in the butt!!!

{February 23, 2009}   Dear blogger,

It has been a week since my last confession. I had a sick kiddo home with me last week, so exercise and blogging time were sparse. I got my booty kicked at aerobics on Saturday, but one hard class a week isn’t cutting it. I need to be better about working out at home, and I just don’t feel like the Wii Fit is really giving enough of a workout. My parents got me (okay, they got the kids) the Wii Outdoor Life Adventure Challenge, which rocks! It’s a much better aerobic workout than the Wii Fit, and really fun!

I weighed in this morning, and the Wii Fit tells me I gained 1.1 pounds, yet the number on the scale indicates I lost weight. Huh. At any rate, I am down 5 pounds from when we started this. Good, but not great. Need to keep pushing myself with the exercise. I’m doing ok with food for the most part, although I did have Sonic tots yesterday.

{February 16, 2009}   Monday weigh-in

I was only down .8 pounds this morning, but considering how I ate over the weekend (hello, Valentine’s Day chocolate and movie theatre popcorn!), I’m just glad I didn’t gain. I need to be more disciplined this week.

I have a cold, so I’m trying to decide how much to attempt exercise-wise. It’s hard to exercise when you don’t feel good.

{February 12, 2009}   Bad diet day

So, I didn’t do too well today on the whole diet thing. I did get about an hour of walking in, but I ate like crap. Dinner at church tonight was delicious (pork loin, stuffing ,gravy, green beans cooked with bacon, and baked apples), and I’m sure about 1,000 calories. I also (big confession here) ate a donut. And a piece of chocolate. So I’m going to have to work really hard tomorrow.

I tend towards emotional/bored eating, and I was kind of down in the dumps today, so what better to do when sitting there feeling blue than eat? Bad. Bad.

{February 11, 2009}   Spooky

I am pretty sure Facebook is stalking me. All of a sudden, all of my ads are about diets, and I haven’t even posted about mine on there, except for a couple mention in other people’s comments! Freaky. And, dear Facebook? I am not doing a colon cleanse to loose 45 pounds overnight. Just for the record.

{February 9, 2009}   Weigh in!

My Monday morning weigh-in. Drum roll, please….

Down 1.8 pounds! Still no noticable change, but hopefully that will come. I’d like my favorite jeans to fit again.

{February 9, 2009}   Updated Tribe links

I think I have everyone added to the Diet Tribe links on the sidebar – if you’re blogging it and I missed you, let me know. (Zoe, are you doing yours on your blog???)

We had our first church workout “class” this weekend, and it was great! There were four of us this week, and we did a Kathy Smith workout video and then went for a walk on the trail by church. This beautiful weather is motivating me to get outside more, which is good. I’m contemplating getting a bike when I am in funds again, so that the boys and I can go for rides together this spring.  I think it would be fun, and good exercise!

I’m doing pretty well with eating; I’m lagging on the exercise, but that is more due to a heavy school workload this weekend than anything. I’m caught up now, so no excuses! I’m setting a timer for Eli on the Wii to make sure that I get ample time to do the Wii Fit. His Star Wars addiction needed an intervention anyways. ;)

I’m still doing mainly the Smart Ones for my meals. The interesting thing is that they leave me feeling fuller than normal, and I don’t feel as inclined to snack as I did before. Wednesday night dinners at church are the only real obstacle in my diet, but if I can be good with portions and avoiding dessert there, it will be okay.

{February 6, 2009}   Lack o’ exercise

So, I have a problem with using the Wii Fit to get my exercise. My youngest son is currently obsessed/addicted to Lego Star Wars on Wii – but you can only save it after you’ve completed a level. If he’s in the middle of a level when I make him turn it off, he just pauses it, and then leaves it for next time. Well, as you can imagine, the one time I removed the game to put mine in – all hell broke loose since he then had to start over on that level. (Heaven forbid. But then again, when you’re five, little things are big deals.)

It’s the battle of the Wii, and we’re going to have to find a solution that works for both of us.

In the meantime, I am coveting Active Life Outdoor Challenge and My Fitness Coach. I just saw that there’s a My Weight Loss Coach too, but I haven’t checked it out yet.

Our first exercise class at church is on Saturday, so I’m psyched about that – nothing like having friends to keep you motivated!

{February 4, 2009}   Food and exercise

I got a Wii Fit for my birthday, and yesterday I spent 50 minutes on it. I haven’t worked out yet today, and with church tonight and a grad school assignment due tomorrow, I’m not sure if I’ll get there today or not. A group of us are also starting an exercise class once a week at church, so that starts Saturday.

I love the Wii Fit, but so far I don’t feel like I get an intense enough workout from it, so I need to see how it goes and probably supplement it some. I haven’t unlocked much yet on it, so maybe there’s more on there aerobic-wise that will help.

For food, I got a bunch of Smart Ones and Healthy Choice meals for lunches. They’re easy and low-cal, and keep me from grabbing what I usually would at home, which would involve cheese. ;) I need to figure out dinner plans, since my kids are both super skinny and need to gain, not lose weight. Portion control and snacking are probably bigger issues for me, but as a single mom, I do tend to grab convenience foods since they’re easier and faster, which isn’t always the healthies choice.

I’m not a huge breakfast eater, but I’m working on it. I have fruit and yogurt to make smoothies or else I have a bowl of oatmeal. I didn’t eat breakfast today, though. Need to work on that one.

{February 4, 2009}   My diet blog

After watching the show Diet Tribe, I finally got motivated to get back on the healthy eating and exercising bandwagon. I lost a lot of weight after my divorce last year, but have since gained every single pound of it back.

To make my driver’s license honest, I need to lose 25 pounds, but I would be happy with 15. My BMI is at the top of the normal range right now, so while I’m not “technically” overweight, I’m only a pound or two away from it, and the double chin and muffin top don’t lie. I’d like to get back down to a healthier weight, and just be in better shape – have toned abs, arms, and legs instead of what I’ve got now.

(And just for the record – when I renewed my license, they didn’t even ask me if my info was accurate, so I didn’t lie on purpose! They just took what was on the old one from 6 years ago.)
